Assistant Professor of Communication
Year Started at Coker: Fall 2024
Education Background: BA in Film & Media Arts and English from the University of Tampa; MA in American Studies from George Washington University; PhD in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Research Background: My research focuses on how popular media shapes our understanding of the world. Some of my past research has centered on topics like the relationship between media and historical knowledge, the rise and influence of digital platforms, television’s transition from cable to streaming, TikTok conspiracy culture, and the documentary form.
Favorite Thing about being a Cobra: I love how the close-knit environment at Coker allows me to work closely with students to develop the critical communication skills that they need to pursue what they’re passionate about. Plus, through helping my students, I get to learn about new things and explore their diverse interests and perspectives.
